Marloes is interested in the soul, researches and experiments with the concept of the soul by using herself as ‘research material’. She experiments with new ways of living, like spending half a year in a Tipi, and another half a year in a Yurt: growing her own food and going back to the very basics. This way she tries to capture the essence of life: Why am I here, and what am I supposed to do here?
She converts these big questions directly into experiences, which she shares with people through stories. For example by telling stories and creating them with the people. She invites the public to their inner world. She guides them in their own inner worlds.
In her life she tries to be her own guide too, always keeping in mind that there is a bigger picture to look for. So she is challenging herself to face everything that comes her way. Like facing her fears, solving her bad situations but also receiving the good moments of life, like the little gifts she got from serendipitous situations. She tries not to lock herself with schedules, but go with the flow that every new day is bringing.
In her drawings one recognizes this energy. Led by intuition; she listens to the unconscious mind. She draws whole landscapes, animals, energetic movements that are not planned, but arise by ‘coincidence’. She draws during nighttime, when the sun is going down and she kindles the fire. Only the next morning she sees clearly what she had drawn. Often, such a drawing appears magical; you can disappear in it for a long time. It tells the stories itself.
With this in mind she wants to explore how she can bridge the gap between escapism and reality, not having to flee from the earth but rather use the 'non-reality' to be able to experience and feel dreams and desires of the soul. Rather than leaving them behind in the ‘non-reality’, we can bring the things we find there back to our daily lives, use it as both an inspiration and energy to explore further. Now imagine that everything can and is possible also in the real world, how would you create your life?
